Diet your life – Part 1

Diet your life – Part 2
February 28, 2015

At the time of writing this blog post I weight around 84.1 kg with 17.1% of fat mass, 182 cm height and almost passing the mark of 33 years. Just 3 years earlier at the age of 29, I was at 98 kg, with who knows how much fat in me. This was The Day I decided to do something with myself.

Don’t get me wrong I wasn’t “that” bad, but I did feel uncomfortable with how I imagined myself I would look like (Vin Diesel anyone?). This was opposed to what everyone around me was saying: “You look good”, “You’re looking nice”, “Wow, you make lovely couple”. Well in my opinion I was simply FAT.

Well… look for yourself (and don’t kid yourself, for this photo I was doing “all in” trying to lose the belly as much as possible, nobody wants to look fat on photos right?) August 2011.

So what you do when you want to lose weight.. well you diet. The only problem with me is that I don’t like most things. I don’t really fancy “green stuff” (vegetables) so my usual menu is very limited. And since I like to eat… the easiest one was of course Dukan Diet.

It was quite easy for me. While most people don’t like it because you eat the same things over and over again I actually liked it. I was eating 5 type of products each day, every day for about 6 months to a year. I never really went thru all the stages where you swap the food with “green stuff”, and you mix it up. I just keep on eating what I liked but within the Dukan recommendation for lots of protein, minimum fat. I ended up losing about 6-8kg just by sitting at my desk, all day long. Eating & working. While this was nice.. the bigger problem was that every time you wanted to go on Vacations, family dinners, meetings with your friends there was always a problem. Either you took your food packages with you or you ended up eating something you shouldn’t have. The other problem was that even though I was continuing my diet my weight just wouldn’t move down. I was at 90-92 all the time depending on part of the day I weight myself and simply my body refused to go down.

I’ve been at 89-91 kg before for a longer part of my adult life and it seemed comfortable enough so I decided it’s time to stop my Dukan Diet and start eating somewhat different food, but still using what I’ve learnt on Dukan, as in less fat, more proteins. But that’s for another day.
